I graduated on the 6th of May. I have sent out numerous applications and resumes to darn near every company out there. The trouble I have been having is many companies aren't hiring north of Detroit. I live in Mid-Michigan. About 2 1/2 hrs. north of Detroit. I do though have a few companies that want to hire me. MELTON, SUPER S ERVICE, ROEHL, U.S. EXPRESS, STEVENS, and a few others. Melton and Roehl are my front runners. In my case I am trying to get my first year out of the way so that I can start going after the numerous local and dedicated jobs out there that will put me home a lot more. I spent 17 years in a different industry that was pretty physically demanding. I am hoping to find one that will give me a lot of money and be able to stay active for the most part. Does anyone have any advice?

Find a moving company...THIS IS THEIR SEASON..May-Oct. BUT are you really really really wanting to be physical? United,Allied,North American,Wheaton are all up there ,they WILL put you to work, and boy do I mean WORK!! You can get your miles and its very physical. Each one of those co's have agents all over the state. They are begging for drivers right now.

Focus on Melton and Riehl, they are both good companies, or maybe try the oil feild service's companies in your area. Congrats on your cdl and good luck

I would consider it a blessing in disguise if you cannot work for the likes of Prime, England and whatnot. Trust me when I say those companies are doing you a favor.

From those you listed, my first choice would be Melton Truck Lines and then Roehl.

Check Schneider about their tanker school; that's where the good money is for your future.

Also check Falcon Transport and Corrigan moving company. Corrigan recently hired a whole CDL graduating class for local work, but they also have OTR.
