No Ocala. They also have location’s in Tallahassee. They are looking for a driver trainer.. who has a CDL and would ride with someone to train. It’s 45 min drive to the starting location. But it would be home every night. CDL is required. But training is offered. The background may be a problem. But his resume looks great. He has that type of experience.. just no driving experience and that background.

He has GED. He’s on his was to interview now. I’ll keep you posted… passing a drug test is no problem. But it also states that he must pass background. So we’ll see.

He might look at Soil Tech Distributors as well, they’re the in house trucking for trademark metals recycling, but also have other divisions as well. I can’t find the requirements, but they base a lot of trucks out Ocala, a guy named Mike is the dispatcher, if you search Craigslist hard enough, especially in the Tampa area you’re sure to find his contact info, they’re based out of Tampa.

His interview at Cone went great. They do a background check but as I had suggested, he sold himself. He told them all the positive things he has done and they commended him on how long he has not been in any trouble since then. (25+years). They said they are a family owned company who likes to give second chances to people doing good. The man who interviewed him told him everything looks great and he will go over it with the driving manager and we should hear back by next week. They do have three other applicants though.
He and I work at a restaurant in Gainesville and they have been great to us , giving him the time off to go to school and encouraging him. Cone is one of the distributors at our restaurant. So our GM is going to call Cone on Monday to put in good word. We shall see… if he can get hired with the background then I know there is hope for everyone. ❤️ -
Try to postpone any possible onboarding/orientation sessions until AFTER the holidays are over.
