May be starting Swift school in the next 2 weeks. I was terminated from Roehl school because I did not get my back ups down quick enough for the 3 and 1/2 week course. Do they give a lot of time for learning backups and is extra time available if needed?

I saw that they may put an extra week on school time, but that means one more week without pay.

    any help appreciated!

With you living in Indiana there's a good chance Swift will send you to their 3rd party school in Indianapolis.
I made a thread about my experience there, and @Charlie Mac made one as well.
They give you all the time you need but it isn't paid.
Standard course enrollment is 3 weeks, only two of those weeks are actually spent driving and on the range. If you don't pass in 3 weeks, you stay as long as it takes until you do.
Some people were there over 7 weeks when I went through.
The problem here is you aren't getting paid. So it turns into a see how long you can last kind of thing, and some companies will cut the funding after a certain amount of time.

I think I mentioned this before but if your priority is getting good at backing Venture Logisitics in Indianapolis will have you do 300+ backing maneuvers off the bat and you'll get paid while in training.

I looked at Venture as an option, but they start at .32cpm vs swift .36. getting paid a few weeks doesnt outweigh the extra pay over time in my mind.

Ouch. Didn't realize the OTR pay scale was that low. Regional should be .42 and you could move to dedicated or local routes eventually.

I hang my hat perfectly balanced between Louisville and Indy lol
You're right down the road from the Gary terminal now though. Swift might not be a bad choice with you being so close. Lots of company's in that area though.

Also considered, looked at it that swift is huge should have freight all the time, maybe not so much fro Venture which seems to be much smaller

Yes lots of companies, but need the "free training" and need to start ASAP.

Swift has lots of freight but also lots of drivers. Easy to get swept under the rug and forgotten about if you let it happen. The people in Gary are nice though, you could definitely do worse.
    Good luck to ya

Go with Millis transfer they are a better school and company. Why did you abandon you other thread with a lot of good responses.
