Hello everyone I am new to the Industry and recently applied to PRIME, I am currently studying for my CDL permit, I plan on arriving with permit in hand. I am waiting for the verification process to finish and a school date. I am hoping to be in Springfield by June 1st to start my career. I have always been interested in being an OTR Trucker because my grandfather was a OTR Trucker. I spent the last 10 years working as a Police Officer and was let go due recent cuts in funding. I have a very clean driving record and great employment history. My only concern is the BMI requirements with PRIME. I am a Big Guy for my Height 5'8 250lb not fat but when they do BMI I am around 30-35% any suggestions.

I believe 35 is the limit. If you're close, knocking off 5 pounds is usually enough to get you under that.

Thanks for the advise, 5 pounds is easy to do. I have heard 39 was the limit. Is there anyone out there that recently went through SPRINGFIELD that would know?

I don't thing that just because your bmi is over 35 you can't be hired, I just means you have to be tested for sleep apnea. I'm 6'4" 265 pounds, like you I'm not overweight at all, just a big guy. I am required by Prime to use a CPAP machine and I have to maintain atleast a 70% compliance rate. A lot of people look at the machine as if it were a horrible thing, but it actually improves your health and you will definitely have more energy the next day. My recommendation to you, if you still have health insurance get tested before you come to Prime and have your insurance company get you a machine before you show up. If not prime will charge you for the sleep test and a machine, and you will make weekly payments out of your paycheck. Congrats on your decision and good luck to you.

Thanks MONT74, I have been tested for Sleep apnea several years ago and did not require a CPAP machine. I am really looking forward to seeing the country from an 18 wheeler.

I know the feeling, the first thing I realized when I started driving was just how small the United States really is.

Just because you were tested several years ago doesn't mean that you won't get tested again. (And this time with different results). There are other risk factors that will get you sent over to the sleep clinic, it isn't *just* having a high BMI.

    holmescounty Thanks this.
