I had it happen a couple months ago on a Convoy load. Called them up and said that the receiver changed the delivery location by a few miles, and that I wouldn't make it before the scheduled appointment time. Without even asking, they sent me a ratecon with an extra $300 on it. Worked for me.

Np bud, it’s always worthless to get mad in this industry, receivers will try to get concessions out of the delivery guy they couldn’t get out of the shipper for free.

just think of it as an opportunity to bring that RPM up in that last mile renegotiation.

It depends on who the broker is; if they pay well; how many loads I’ve hauled for them; etc. I usually let the brokers slide with stuff of this sort—but I will start to demand extra pay if they try to do it again. Sometimes when brokers are very dishonest, I’ll just stop hauling loads for them entirely.

Unfortunately, in this business, dishonesty is common among brokers to the point I have to allow some dishonesty all the time or else I’d have to flag 80% of brokers, and I’d find a hard time finding a profitable load.

When I deal with dishonest brokers, I never argue with brokers or aggressively demand what’s fair. I do my best to maintain a good attitude, and sometimes I try to get some compensation, but at the same time understand that there is just a 50% chance I’ll get them to increase my rate. There have been times I’ve needed to follow up on a requested adjustment to the rate for several days, all while speaking to the broker with respect and in a calm tone. I wish I could go off on the broker, but I certainly don’t want to be flagged by a broker and have my reputation damaged on some website for all brokers to see. It is what it is.

I like the freight and the rate, From hauling there freight for years I don't get excited about a few miles, besides Sometimes the crews at the the jobsite take a long weekend, so you might be cooling your heels for awhile.
