    Hi all,
Was traveling thru lexington,va in a rental car and got a speeding ticket of 85mph on a 70 zone ..and obviously it is considered a reckless driving offense .Now ,does anyone know of any good lawyers in town that can get it reduced please? Or any route to take .?

Sure it's reckless. In Maryland they would have arrested you at 90 or over.

Must be a hell of a rental car.

Worst case scenario the prosecutor can subponea that car's electronics and vacumn it's history for position, speed and so forth from the day of the offense.

That won't happen unless there's a murder involved.

nah, some people drive rental cars fast, so they can blow either the engine or transmission, and get thier money back.

Better take care of it towards amending it down to a non-moving violation or even dismissal. A lawyer you'll need for sure, unless VA has some deferment program. Good thing this was a four wheeler vehicle. With a semi truck involved these days, it is much harder to amend down tickets any more.

if you belong to ANY auto club, like AAA, Allstate, etc, they may be of some help in this regard finding an attorney, but from that point on, it's all on you. they do not pay for your defense.

you could also try calling the DA's office and say that you will pay the fine in full, but to a reduced charge like inop headlight, or inop tail light.

get that persons name, the time, and date you called. then when you go in person, talk with that person you spoke with, write out a check, say good bye.

and need it be said..?? SLOW DOWN.......your future DEPENDS on a CLEAN license.

85 is driving a car fast? You must not drive around any major city...or anywhere with 70+ mph speed limits....or anywhere for that matter. And I'm sure the car OP rented wasn't from the 1930's and won't blow engine/transmission at 85mph.

Virginia. Say what you want about Virginia but they have hundreds of signs around the state today stating "speeds over 80 mph are considered reckless driving" so with that in mind, they seem to take these matters pretty seriously and it's unlikely the will reduce them.

You can't say you weren't warned.

If its first offence, you can plead to have it dropped by taking classes.

    That's what I did...

but then again, I did not have a CDL at the time, so YMMV
