it has been on many "cops shows" where they do a police chase. many cars (especially with a 4 cyl engine) cannot sustain a high speed for too long a time, till the engine explodes. many cars alos have rev limiters as well. my '04 ranger had it, ticked me off too.

watch one sometime, especially from that former cop, John Benell.....??

oh...i drive about 70 at times myself, in MY CAR, but i do not make that a habit.

and yes, a long, long time ago, i worked at Budget Rent a Truck as a shuttler, and i had seen cars wrecked, (in the back lot) where they were driving way too fast, and some idiots would throw it into reverse......KA-BOOM goes the transmissions....

You got caught red-handed. Just pay the ticket. That's your cheapest and easiest option.

Ok I’ll tell everyone how I handled speeding citations. What I’m fixing to post would be if the drivers had no attitude with me. For someone going 11 to 15 over I noted on the citation they could plea to 10 over and 4 pts and a lot lower fine before the court date. For drivers doing 10 over I would let them plea down to a 2pt 5 over fine.

Let me take a guess. Was the cop sitting at the bottom of a long steep hill?

Best I could say is bring a copy of your driving record from. DMV with you to court.

Hills only average 3 mph and how do these threads turn into a he had to fudge to get you. You obviously need to rethink your misplaced idiocies.

We have mountains in Virginia and hills. Some people deserve speeding tickets I see it every day as they crash into the back of another car. I would much rather see tickets issued for following to close BEFORE THE ACCIDENTS HAPPEN. Seems like a good prevention

But I know how some of cops are around here

It’s just here lately that it’s the officers fault.

I can imagine it's a tough job to have when the boss says you have to get out and punish all the law breakers today.

If you don't it doesn't look good to the boss

FWIW the speed limits out west are 80, so 85 isn’t fast for a car built in the last 30 years.

But doing 85 in a 70 is pretty dumb. That’ll kill your driving record unless you can get something done about it. Then LEARN from your mistake.

It was the officer's fault. If the cop hadn't been there the ticket would never have been written. see, officer's fault.
