This question seems to get brought up a lot lately. For new guys, Cobra 29 for me as well. No need for someone new to go toast a good radio and possibly mess with electronic equipment in the truck or get RF burns from improper installation.

Maybe @Admin wants to pin a good first CB thread? Just wondering.

I am impressed there are guys asking this these days because CB really has fallen to the wayside among newer drivers.

I hear what you are saying, but no one has posted here for several days. It's nice to read something new, even if it's a repeated subject.

BTW..........by rookies, I meant rookie CB owners. Getting a Stryker, or any other "big" radio as a first time buyer is akin to a newly licensed driver getting into a Hellcat Challenger/Charger and heading out on the highways and byways. It won't end well! Start with a basic radio (Cobra 29/Uniden PC78) and learn the ropes. Then if all goes well, you can move up in class.

Also, if wifi_guru is still reading this, we have forgotten to mention that a good quality antenna and coax, is more important than an expensive radio.
There are a few good threads on this forum that deals with mobile CB antenna problems. Even though they deal with big trucks, the principal is the same for pickups and cars.

I was waiting for his response so I would add that into the confusion.

Yes, I was debating about mentioning the antenna system too, but I decided to throw that out there. It seems like most people that sign up to ask a question, never hardly reply back. So it makes you wonder if our efforts to help someone are in vain.
