I put an app in with an Otr company and my recruiter is asking for check stub from previous trucking job I held for two months but was terminated due to tire incidents in the oil field and my desk job I held for 2 years. She says that they have not responded and that faxing in check stubs will speed up the process. Is this common practice with trucking companies?

You do have a W-2 still right?
Keep all financial papers for 7yrs minimum....
Maybe the other company will respond, but I don't believe the HAVE to.mje Thanks this. -
Sorry, but they would NOT be getting such information from me like a W-2 or pay stubs.
Come one people, this is YOUR personal DATA that can be used to highjack your identity. Start standing up for yourselves.
I don't care if you do think it's paranoid. When did this become acceptable behavior. Why not just give them total access to your medical and financial institutions as well.critters, BritChick, cetanediesel and 3 others Thank this. -
I always keep my stubs and and info. Just seem a little suspicious to me like Mndriver said.
mje Thanks this. -
When I looked into being a company driver, both REPUTABLE companies I applied at required W-2s or a past pay stub (up to date). My current employer at the time did provide me a letter stating starting date and that I was currently employed.
Verification can be tricky w/o providing pay stubs or W-2s.peterrumbler and mje Thank this. -
If you decide to fax them your pay stub to help with verification, mark out your social security number and any other information you don't wnat them to have. Info such as your home address and company address should remain readable.

Fine then, dont give them the W-2 or pay stubs. If the employer cant verify previous employment then prepare to not be hired.
Either get your former employers to co-operate in verifying your employment periods, or look for a job elsewhere.Hanadarko, mje and Western Sky Thank this. -
Fine stand up for your "rights" and get and stay on the breadline or never qualify for a job that is yours as long as you can prove you were employed.. Geeze people grow up already. Tin foil must be in short supply in some areas of the US these days.
