driverz,
i filled out an app, release, on line, get copy of dac ran by company i applied with. i made sure i met qualifications before i applied.
i contacted recruiter, via email, recruiter states he want another yr experience, no accidents, major violations.
i just separated from former employer, after 2yrs. i pulled reefer, dry, and container van. Got a few months driving doubles agri-buckets. 7 mnths driving roll off & specialized trlr. 6 mnths flatbed. all indicated on app.
my dac has a no registration, 2005, owner responsibility not filed by company.....disorderly conduct 2002, same stuff i've always had on
dac.
i thought this recruiter didn't bother to read app or dac. i wrote back to point out possible discrepancy............no answer.....i'll give some more time for an answer...
anyone have speculation on recruiter behavior?

For the first time probably ever, people are competing for jobs. It's not just a matter of meeting requirements at the moment. Probably tens of apps per truck right now.
luvtheroad and panhandlepat Thank this. -
ummmm, yeah, that's a fair assumption.....i do realize recruiter also may have been too busy to answer, and of course there are drivers who have emaculate records, newbies are cheaper, etc.
i felt my qualifications exceeded :
Minimum age: 22 years of age.
One year verifiable tractor-trailer experience.*
Have a stable verifiable work history.
No DUI or DWI convictions or positive drug screens or events in the past five years and no felony conviction within the last 10 years.
Have an acceptable driving record as reflected by MVR.
No major preventable accident in the past five years.
Have a valid Class (A) C.D.L. with HAZMAT endorsement.
Meet DOT requirements and be able to pass DOT physical and drug screen tests, both of which are paid for by the company.
Be able to perform functions in job description.
appreciate your response, thankz -
Like PharmPhail said , they received many more applications that exceeded the requirements . Likely some apps were from drivers with more experience and nothing negative on their DAC . Companies are moving away from cheaper newbies that don't have proven reliability .luvtheroad Thanks this.

hell, don't forget the cheap long timers too that show no reliability.

Recruiters are going a sort of culture shock. They can actually be choosy. This has never happened for them before. They get several applicants for each truck, and can look for more than the minimum standards. Let's take your disorderly conduct thing you said is on the reports. All other qualifications, etc. being equal, you will lose that job to the other driver who has no such note on his or her report. You may meet the MINIMUM standards, but the recruiters no longer have to hire everyone who meets the minimums.
luvtheroad, 1pissedoffdriver and rikdev50s Thank this. -
pay back time for the ''recruiters'' lmfao..
It was a long time coming now they have the ammo on there side...lmao -
Another year of driving is because probably your longest stay anywhere is 2 years....you should have stayed where you were at until you secured other employment. 2 years here, 7 months and 6 months else where tells me you not in it for the long haul, things don't go you're way and you leave. Yep another year would help you with not staying at two previous jobs less than a year.rikdev50s Thanks this.

It's not the recruiter it's you. Stop believing and depending on these people that have their best interest for the company. Do something different and go out and see some of these companies. You can download a list of trucking companies in your area and weed through the companies you know you don't want to go to. It's important to download the right list. If you ask for trucking JOBS you'll get the same old companies with the same old story. You have to search for COMPANIES. Just about every good trucking company does not advertise like the bottom feeders. Hit bricks and go see them at their terminals. You never know you might get lucky.
luvtheroad and ElevateMe Thank this. -
thankz all, your responses were "on point", i agree........lol, luv tha sense of humor too......i was a little peeved cuz they kept emailing me, saying they wanted me to apply, after i applied to one of those web recruiting sites.
yeah i guess tha recruiters r "happier than a sissy in a prison cell"
they were among many i've considered; when they come off arrogant or don't answer questions, they help me decide we won't work well together; working for another huge trucking co is low priority.
hey! i thought working with jbhu 4 2yrs would count as 4
i don't have no grandiose expectation, your feedback helps to remind me to stay focused on making tha best informed decision i can as to what trucking org i'll work with............be safe
