I'm wondering if it's possible to get a red light on your scale pass while bobtailing? Because unless your truck looks like s*** (a ton do) I don't see a reason to scale.

Certainly can and have seen it happen many times. Also noticed some scale houses love dump trucks.

I get a 'pull in' in Florida many times heading home bt, even get the arrow to the scale.
No inspections done.CrappieJunkie Thanks this. -
Drivers sometime forget that every 10th driver thing. Places like PA do it. In supercoops they seperate trucks based on weight or something a dot cop might see. These go to the static scale for the treatment. The others just roll by and if a 2nd officer is watching they just look for stupid stuff wrong. Most scales do much more then just weight enforcement.

Well, since the prepass doesn't know you are bobtail....
Seriously, people need to read into what prepass is and what information it has access to. Here's a hint, Bills (or lack of) is not one of them.
Now the ones that combine a wim scale on the freeway with prepass it's a little silly. Unless the carrier has a horrible CSA score. -
Absolutely.
It also can be where you're based and where you are.
I'm from the east coast and I get green all the time.. seldom ever a red... until I get out west(PacNW)
They seem to like to look at east coasters bc they know they've come across the country.
I got brought in today while empty and everyone went to the bypass BUT ME.
Pulled me to the scale to look at me.
Our safety record is Satisfactory, so I know it's not a flag.
