I am starting to see there is red tape up the wazoo at landstar.

My father has offered to give me the money to get my truck running if I sell his RV for him. It would Barely be enough at best as it is an older 5th wheel. It's a big sucker but would be best for a hunting camp or something and it's not really the best season to sell that sort of thing.

anyways. I check in with the guy doing my landstar application and he tells me I can't get approved untill he has all my paperwork including my drug test and truck inspection. I was told I could get preapproval even before owning a truck but now apparently I need my truck inspection before he can submitt it for approval. I was hoping to get approved and signed on so I could use the tire discounts to get my tires since my funds are tight. I doubt my truck would pass inspection with the tires that are on it.

So I guess it's back to looking for a company job. If I take a company job I'm liable to take a year and redo allot more stuff on my truck then I would have done if I could have got it up and running right away. Hopefully the rates go up by then.

Try talking to somebody else. Maybe things have changed but the driver and truck approval were seperate. Tell them you have a Landstar small fleet owner that will hire you if you get approved. Lie, it's the corporate thing to do.
One thing you are right about and you are just getting started on the Landstar red tape.

I'm not going to lie. Just not how I operate.

I've been told that I have to be there 90 days before I can use any of the discounts offered through them. That really sucks. What do they care?

With all the admin work involved I can see why they would put a probation on purchase discounts. Otherwise think how many would hire on for a week to get tires and repairs then off they go.
