What's the worst/funniest you've seen? I stopped to look at some trucks in Selmer, TN today and found this first rate exhaust work. Watch out for bumps

Yanked the ink cartridge out of a ball point pen once and used the shell to sleeve a trailer tandem hose the had dragged .

The bolts fell out that held my air wiper motor in place on my old CO4070A,back in the day in a hard rain,no wipers.Found a little block of wood along the highway, jammed the motor back in place, wipers worked great.Forgot about it,ran that way for months, worked fine.

Reminds me of the old dodge pickup I used to drive. The plastics bushings that hold all the windshield wiper linkage together went out one by one, usually in the middle of a downpour. Had the whole thing held together with wire by the end of it but it still worked fine.

I think the most ghetto thing I've seen is a oil pan leak "sealed" with a t-shirt and 10 tubes of silicone. Just fix the #### oil pan.

My stinkin' old AG200 suspension broke and let the rear axle swing back on one side. Used a chain and boomer to get it back in place so I could unload and get back to the shop. Not once but twice.

Upgraded to AG400 and cured all those problems.

This wasn't on a truck but....

I had an older Buick Century with a "newer" electric cooling fan. For some reason it stopped running. Some relay somewhere wouldn't kick it in so I was overheating. I was young and broke so a garage was out of the question. So I found a fuse in the box that was live all the time, no key needed. I ran wire to a toggle switch I mounted by cutting a hole in my dash and bolting it in, than to the fan. Worked great as long as I remembered to hit that toggle when I started the car and when I parked the car.

I have a photo album full of pics of redneck fixes on my project W9.

-Welded cast iron suspension hanger on the rubber block suspension.
-Piece of rebar welded to the rear cab mount bracket to reinforce a cracked area.
-Foil from a cigarette package to ground the back light of the pyro.
-Piece of tin siliconed over a hole in the firewall where the A/C evaporator was supposed to go.
-Wires tied up with many feet of electrical tape instead of proper clamps and zip ties.
-Gob weld on a cracked aluminum crossmember.
-Old frame rails had a couple holes blown through them with a torch to mount accessories instead of drilling.
-Tubes of silicone to seal roof lights, horns, etc.

These are just off the top of my head. I'm sure if I thought about it, I could add many more to the list.

No one ever bought new fuses in the old days. Most everyone smoked, and a piece of cigarette pack foil was wrapped around the fuse, then snapped back in place.

My first car the exhaust hanger broke, the only thing I had with me at the time was a large bag of 1/2" wide leather strips. It got me home where I could get the baling wire. Vehicle never leaves the driveway without baling wire now.
