Hi, I was hauling cabbage in a 53 feet reefer. I picked up cabbage on Thursday and will be delivering Monday morning. The set temperature was 34 degrees on a continuous mode. They also put a temp recorder. I had a reefer breakdown and it took dealer 9 hours to complete repairs. Meanwhile temp inside the box rose to 57 degrees. What to expect when I will be delivering cabbage on Monday? Will it be rejected?
Reefer breakdown, what to expect when I will be delivering on monday?

better be calling the broker/Dispatcher ASAP if you haven't already.
Don't plan on dealing with this alone. Call them NOW and get them into the loop so they can deal with the consignee. That's their job. Help you deal with major issues like this. -
Cabbage is pretty hardy stuff. You're probably ok. I would follow MNdriver's advice and tell your boss or the broker or both. I've hauled a cabbage/onion mixed load at 45 with no issues so I doubt a few hours at 50+ is going to cause an issue but CYA just in case.

temp recorder is what screws you as thats what will give them a timeline to what happeneded thus leaving it impossible for you not to tell them.

Thank you guys for helping me out with this, I run under my authority and the broker will be back in office on Monday and I will be delivering the load. So, yes, they will find out. What if I just take the recorder and throw it away? Is it an option?
-
Only if you want to guarantee your load be rejected. You need to call your broker today. This is something you should have done when the reefer broke down in the first place. -
ok, so what I learned that cabbage is not lettuce and strawberries and I might be ok, I hope so. They do not work today, anyway.
-
they should have an after hours number you can call. Rare that they would not.
Otherwise, contact the broker BEFORE you go into the consignee on Monday and give them a heads up. They can decide if they should call the consignee before you arrive and have a plan of action before you even hit them with the issue. -
probably gonna be priced down if they dont reject it be prepared to do alot of sittin around and stressful day ahead of u. I just had a friend his reefer broke down, load of bananas temp went above 65 n it got rejected 8grand was the loss
