I do not believe they do sell actual(undyed)off road there--i have never seen any other pump denoting that--while I admit I do not like Pilots--or their fuel prices--I do really like their COFFEE--and typically slide through one--late night when you might be able to get in and out--to fill my thermos!

Brown top coffee can legally be consumed off highway, but red top coffee is never legal to consume anywhere other than off highways. It gets pretty confusin', and the penalties for non-compliance are severe, --- so I play it safe and only purchase brown top coffee. The extra cost as a result of added taxes is less expensive than having your coffee cup dipped for evidence and found to contain red stuff. Do those government officials who go 'round dippin' cups ever wash those dippers that they use? Do they even keep the dipper in an air-tight, sanitary container? Or just throw it back in the glove compartment with all the other junk?
OH!
And by the way, ....... don't believe those who tell y'all that addin' creamer, dairy OR non-dairy, will fool the fools who dip coffee cups. Actually, the active ingredients contained in that red top coffee is detectable in a person's system for up to two months after ingestion. Also, it's possible to test positive for red top coffee as a result of being in close proximity of someone consumin' it by way of second hand aroma fumes. Unfortunately, any excuse falls on deaf and dumb ears.
If y'all can't afford the fine,
stay away from red top coffee
ALL the time.
Ever heard of Red Zinger Tea?
Same thang. Off road consumption only. No exceptions.
Folks up in Boston had a party in protest of
taxation without representation a few years back.
Threw tea overboard into the harbor. But I hear that backfired
and they received heavy fines for pollutin' the harbor and litterin' a waterway.
Danged if y'all don't, and dinged if y'all do.
Just remember not to forget; brakes are for the Big trucks and the semi-trailers that they pull, .......... not for those who drive 'em.
Big truck truck drivers are assumed to be at fault and therefor guilty, even when proven to be innocent. Those are the brakes folks. Brake the laws and the laws will brake y'all's bank. Just another example of how our government helps and protects us by spendin' the taxes we pay.
HuH?
Whazzat?
Ex what?
OH!
Extortion? :smt107
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm :smt017
It does fit the definition.
I never looked at it that-a-way before.
Lemmie think 'bout that awhile..................................... :smt112

They have "Operation Fuel Watch" going on and signs at the scales saying so when you pull in.
They don't check every truck but just pick them at random.
With the fuel prices going up i bet more scales will be checking. -
pilot uses the same pump for regular and reefer, select both tractor and reefer, pump 70 gal of tractor and 30 gals of reefer tax free fuel into your tank......yeah it is illegal but the color is the same, green.
-
I was checked 2 or 3 times in the 7 yrs I was driving.
They had a long clear straw they dipped in the tank. Hold a finger over the end and pull it out. Like we've all done when bored sitting at the table with our drinks.
Take the finger off the end the fuel in the tube flows back to the tank and the straw goes back in the DOT man's ride. -
I'd imagine the receipt bears this out so unless you throw that one away it does you no good for the tax write off at the end of the year and it will do no good for IFTA reporting as well. -
You can get state and local tax credit (discount) at the pump on the reefer fuel purchased. Assuming that, putting it into the tractor is cheating on about 1/3 of the tax paid at the pump. As for year end credits on fuel taxes yes, you need the receipt. One must consider your buying reefer fuel and therefore it is implied your pulling cold box and no one is suspecting. It is just a flaw in the system at pilots due to the fuel is comming out the same knozzle and not red and detectable. It's temping but still It's not legal.
