Sometimes it's down on the frame rail where it doesn't get scratched up as easy.

Have someone run into your trailer with out it and you better hope your insurance is good.
The trailer had so many inches of reflective tape from the manufacture it better have the same amount if the attorney's get involved.

Exactly. There are no problems until someone gets hurt and attorneys get involved.

You can't really see it but most of our utility brand flats have the tape on the frame rail. That way we can put a QuickDraw kit on and not have to redo the tape. IMG_2289.JPG

Funny this post came up now. I'm retaping my trailer after repainting it. My flatbed has 1" tape on the rub rails inside the groove. It also has 2" tape running the middle of the frame, front to back. The regs say 2" tape at the top, all the way around.

What i also see is a contradiction regarding spacing. One line says constant tape, the next says you can space out strips evenly.

I don't want to provide any easy picks for the DOT, so I guess I'll just overdo it and spend the extra on multiple stripes. They can't complain about too much vs not enough.
