I have had my CDL since Feb. 2010 but some problems at home has kept me from starting my career. So I have 0 experience besides driving a grain tractor trailer, for a farmer. Is there any companies out there that will hire me with out taking a refresher course, and might put me with a trainer longer. Any ideas. I do not have the money to take a refresher course that is the reason for asking.

Go with a local, small company, get the years you need then move on, unless you get to like them, then just stay.

I have called Maverick and talked to a recruiter, and told them my problem and they said that they would treat it like I had just Graduated. But if the recruiter is telling me that just to get a bonus for getting a new hire, how do I know if they are telling me the truth?

I have tried local companies, most of them around where I live need at least 2 to 3 years experience.

this depends on how many miles you put on driving that grain trailer..

no, the recruiter will not be lying to you. i too have had talks with trucking company recruiters and they pretty much all say the same thing...after (about 90 days) of no driving, they want you to have a refresher course....so for one year, how much can YOU actually say you drove..??

inquire at the school you went to for the price of a refresher. then get a job ASAP after that....home matter ARE important, but you cannot do this again, and again, and again....

Every company I called when I was in your situation would only take me with a refresher that was usually 4-8 weeks in length. The only way I beat it was when I went to company that didn't care about the experience too much as long as I was able to prove that I could secure the loads (flatbed). Once I did that I went right out 2 days later and started pulling loads. Any of the big will probably take you and almost all will require at least that time for insurance reasons if nothing else. So get to dialing and Good luck!
