Just to add to the list for whoever finds it helpful: Heartland Express took me in for my first OTR job with no trainer from only having day cab experience. Wasn’t my favorite place to work, but I also hated the thought of riding with a trainer

 

It's much cheaper for a company to hire an experienced driver and then a short refresher. That driver will be hauling freight much quicker and making money for the company. The driver with the refresher is much less likely to be involved in a wreck.

 

Abilene Motor Express has two drop yards in California and hires drivers that have been off the road for years.
