There is a post over on FB where a driver refused to help the GA DOT perform a level 1, citing there was no law that required him to help with an inspection. The guy claimed in the end they just looked at his paperwork and turned him loose.
I’m inclined to take the path of least resistance, like I always have, and just do what I’m asked during an inspection. I’m all for somebody standing up for their rights, but you better make sure you are 100% in the right before you go against the grain.
Just throwing it out there to get the thoughts of the group on this.

I always help them, and nice them to the 9th degree. I don't care what super truckers think. My record is clean and I have the green sticker on my windshield.

And if you happen to get an old timer, you might learn something that will help you avoid BS down the road.

So let’s say you refuse to help and they get another officer out to help. Is the other officer allowed in your truck to operate lights and brakes so they can do the inspection?
I can’t wait until people start posting videos of when this doesn’t work.
And the federal marshalls will be busy. -
I had a DOT officer climb up on my step and grab my steering wheel to check for "play". I was inside the DOT inspection bay. She didn't believe I was actually pushing the steering wheel hard enough for her test. It was a brand new truck..so no play. I just smiled and waited for my green sticker.
stwik, blairandgretchen and jamespmack Thank this. -
I can remember helping a trooper lift the portables out of the trunk of his car, my reward was him writing me an axle weight instead of an over gross, which I definitely was. Saved me a ton of money, he did, literally. Give help and respect until it's not reciprocated, that's my attitude.

I was pulled over last week, passing in a truck restricted lane.
Officer asked why I was in that lane.
I explained, moved over for merging traffic (rush hour) wasn't able to get back over right away.
He said let's do a level 2.
Yes I did the lights, blinker and brakes.
He wrote me a warning on a state citation,no fines, and gave me a clean federal inspection, no violations or warnings.
I'm sure it would have been different had I refused to help.
Why cause friction? I've watched a few of those "Utube cowboys" Foolishness!
It's a self inflicted wound, by not helping.Tombstone69, not4hire, Joetro and 11 others Thank this. -
