I think it worth it to most people just to be home on the weekends.

I'm "local" right now.
12 to 14 hr days, home at night for 10 hrs, go again. -
My opinion, is yes. If you hook up with the right company. And there are many good ones to choose from.
In reality, I'm making more as a regional LTL driver than I did OTR. My check was just under $900 last week. Will be about $500 this week...but I spent 3 nights in a motel that week
. For next weeks pay period, I've turned in about $1200 pre tax.
I got in today (thursday) and I won't be leaving out until Sunday afternoon.
My family....will tell you in a heart beat it's better.
I love OTR...But I can't honestly tell my family that it's what pays the bills anymore. Because it doesn't. -
Regional isnt the same as local hauling. Running the 10-13 hour days like hauling fuel or grain and bieng home nightly is much different. Regional is running the midwest or southeast, northeast, etc. and sleeping at the truck stops or shippers and maybe getting home once or twice a week during the week and off weekends or sometimes two different days in a week.
