Thinking about reinstating my authority, if I do this do I get to keep my old number or do they issue you a new one.

Should get your old number. When we filed for new authority we were told we didn't need a new dot number, could've reinstated the old one and filed for an MC# and updated the MCS-150 form. I guess the old one follows you around, I would assume it's the same with the MC# as well. Call OOIDA or your home state DMV and ask for the MC division they should be able to tell you for sure.

You get your old one. Pay the fee to the Feds, it's like $75 or so, then have your agent file the insurance. It only takes a few days to be rolling under your own numbers.

Oscar the KW and MNdriver Thank this.

Yes and no, I do like pulling for Mercer, but when the agent(s) don't want to "work" and solicite freight thats there for the taking, and just letting trucks sit or bounce to other areas because they would rather sit in their office and wait for the phone to ring, that pisses me off. So yes, I guess I have had about enough.

It would be a different story if I lived somewhere else, but I kind of depend on this agent to have freight, when they don't and I need to get going I end up bouncing to south eastern Iowa or Chicago to get things rolling. That is not acceptable, I am fine with 250 miles, but 300+?

Gatorade tastes better anyway, plus it rehydrates you!

Do what you gotta do. I think open market is fairly good. Not great. Very hit and miss but not too bad, you can make it if you put the effort into it. Cannot wait to see what it's like if freight ever really gets to moving in a big kind of way.. ..although with the steady stream of bad news around the country and world the last several years one always wonders when, or even anymore, IF that will ever happen again...
