They lost me after Aenima. Started to just turn into background music. I really dig their early stuff though.

There is one song I don't like of theirs. People are surprised that I don't like Sober.

Not surprising. I feel the same way about lots of band's radio songs. They're usually the weakest and brain dead songs off each album. One thing I like about Sober is it highlights their bassist's awesome tone.

Zactly! The weakest songs on Combat Rock are Rock the Casbah and Should I Stay, but those 2 songs are the only Clash songs that over 90% of people have ever heard.

I can agree with that a little. Their sound definitely changed and I prefer their earlier stuff. However, I can say that about 90% of all bands I like.
I also agree with the radio song comment.
    However, I do like sober.....lol

It seems they all start out great and then the major labels get a hold of them and set their producers on them. They mold their sound into something that's not of their own creation. Or one of the members leaves and the entire recipe changes so the sound does too.

Rights. Like Iron Man. I despise that song with a passion!

Sometimes it could be the opposite. Their sound mellows because they want to explore their musicianship. The direct changes, and as a purist, we dislike it.

H@@ker with a P&n($ documents that they were being accused of being sell outs then. " And in between
    Sips of coke
    He told me that
    He thought
    We were sellin' out
    Layin' down,
    Suckin' up
    To the man"

I'm certain that's the case sometimes but I've heard too many stories of what the labels do in the studio and behind closed doors. Many of bands have broken up because it was the only way out of a contract and they didn't want to sell out or have some producer dictating their sound and/or musical directions. It's a recipe. Change one ingredient and it just ain't the same anymore.
