I'm a P+D driver for R+L in Missouri and may be able to transfer to Lakeland, FL but my family and friends are all near Fort Myers/ Port Charlotte (which isn't all that far away). I was considering applying for Southeastern in Punta Gorda. I guess I doubt they would look at me until after I become a local resident..???
Also there is no indication about the pay scale. I've noticed over the years that Florida is a bit lower than average. I think we're $23 to 27.50 here. I don't know why R+L in Fort Myers never has any openings..
I do like working for R+L, just want to sort out my options. Thanks, Matt

Not sure the point of this?? Why not just put in for a transfer unless your company (r+l) makes you apply whenever you want to transfer like a regular person

Since he likes the company, as you said, it seems like a simple fix. However, since Ft. Myers doesn't have any open slots, it may not be as simple as transferring directly to that barn and that results in the dilemma he is facing. That is the point of the post.MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
Cooper in fort Myers currently needs drivers, though there currently isn't a terminal manager to push the paperwork.
Cooper starts at 21.75. 26.60 after a year.
R+l doesn't pay the best here, I believe it's 20.04hr to start and takes 5 years to reach top rate
Estes is hiring currently the terminal manager is Todd I believe.
Sefl top pay is 27.00hr. not sure about the starting wage.
I live in fort Myers pretty much all the LTL companies have a high retention rate.Last edited: Dec 5, 2018

I just transferred to RL in Pensacola FL with my wife. Pay is 25.98 an hr for local. We team drive and that pays flat rate of $384 each way. 545 miles . Dedicated turn and burn. Not sure about Lakeland but you can call TM

Or do you usually only wind up running one way per day?IndianaMike Thanks this. -
Yes they do. Every Day we meet a Wilmington solo driver in KY and we head back to Pensacola. They are consistent. Some days we take an empty rear pup to Birmingham or Nashville and get a loaded there . Weve been at RL 4 years and never been told to stay home. We have had to go thru onetime when meet driver was sick and they forgot to put another driver on it
