2007 T800 with factory power door looks;
Parts guy at KW dealership told me I would have to go aftermarket to add a remote clicker, not offered thru KW. Wondering if anyone has done this, if so, big job? What brand? I want to add them to my truck, so any advise, suggestions, ideas, would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I used to be an installer of such products before coming a driver. If you ONLY want keyless and not an Alarm or remote start. Pretty simple job...but you gotta have a few tools to do it. As for brand...there's only 2 out there, DEI and Compustar. DEI makes a tons of brands...viper, clifford, python, etc...if it doesn't say Compustar I would steer clear. Just seen too much BS with DEI. Compustar is top notch. You could drop into a shop and have one installed for under $200 easy. Just keyless that is. Any other questions?

Thanks for the info, EagleEye509, Any comments on doing it myself?
Basic electrical skills in that area, whenever I trade trucks, I usually replace the radios myself, (music & CB); Referring to the keyless remote, unless the kit comes with no instructions, doesn't appear to be a big job........ However that same statement HAS bit me in the butt more than once! -
It can be easy depending on your type of locks in the truck. Basic lock system is just 2 wires...hit lock and the system unlocks? Switch the wires. But, if you have a 5 wire lock system or worse...then your talking about wiring up relays too. You need a print out of the wiring schematic for you truck. The shop where you get the system from MAY give you one. If they do and it's a basic lock, then ultimately you only have a small handful or wires to hook up. I highly suggest you solder your connections though...lots of bumps on the rode will eventually jiggle a T-tap lose. Also, invest in good electrical tape...I only use 3M yellow label...fire proof, sticks to everything you need it to, holds tight. The cheap crap has caused me a lot of problems in the past.
Let me know if there's any other questions. Stuck in Denver till at least tomorrow anyway...need something to do. Loldroy Thanks this. -
Oh yeah...and you MUST use a digital multi meter, DO NOT USE A TEST LIGHT! A test light can fry the computers, saw a guy who fried a BMW once that way...30k and his career later...the car was fixed. No joke

I am helping a friend of mine with a 2001 kenworth t800 the a/c compressor does not come on a/c system is charged properly and if i put power and ground to compressor it runs and cools properly. The bianary switch and high press switch test out fine. I have switched out ac controls, ac comp relay from another truck made no difference. The only thing i have found is the bianary switch has 5 volts going to it with everything running and the high press switch has no power. Have not found a break in a wire. Will the evap switch cause this problem and where is the evap switch located. Thanks for any help you could give me.

I would swap that switch first before anything else. Jump 12 volts past it and see if it works. There should be 12 running though it. If you run a jumper and it works...there you go

Check the freeze switch located in the HVAC box, you will have to remove the panel with the blower motor attached to it and it will be the one with the long probe that goes down into the evaporator.

So how hard would it to be installing power door locks if you don't have them to start with? Just manual push down to lock and pull handle to open at the moment. Wanna try getting power locks in here. T600 99/00 build year, daylight door.

It can be a little challenge getting it done, but not impossible. The wiring aspect is the easy part. Buy the keyless system at a car audio shop (compustar preferred) hook up your power, ignition, etc...under the dash. Run two wires into the doors (green/blue) and then get the actuators installed. Kinda hard to explain that part without seeing it in front of me. But, you mount it to the door, and attach the arm to the lock rod. Probably sounds horrible to someone who has no experience though
