Just got a real sweet deal on 4 - 45' van trailers, but I need to remove the writing on the trailers.
Better to paint over, use some type of acid, any tricks?
These trailers are fully painted over entire sides, nationally known beer company.
Not many folks want a 45' but they work perfect for my operation.

If they are decals a heat gun and plastic razor blade to get the decal it's self off. 3M makes a general purpose adhesive remover that makes the glue pretty well wipe off. Course you still have that sunfade to deal with where the sticker was

Pretty sure 3m also makes a spray on decal remover...

Man I did the scrape decals thing with the plastic blade once. Used cans of that 3M remover.
Let me tell ya. If you get sent to hell, your gonna spend part of eternity scraping the decals off of stuff. It sucks that bad. It does a pretty good job. But it sucks.
In fact there are three plastic blades left in the pack of five right here in the drawer I'll let you have cheap.
You can get at NAPA, don't know about the rest of the stores that's where I went.

Well some of it depends on the type of decal too. The ones that have like a metallic backing to them are just F. They come of in little bitty pieces. The regular decals peeled of pretty good.

Spray glue remover on it in small areas, use a pressure washer with the cutting tip.

.... Make sure the tip is completely hooked up before you start lancing stuff apart..

Also might want to call a local sign shop and see what they sell to remove the logos. Heck, might even be worth it to let them do it, although I've never asked so I don't know. They do have all sorts of chemicals to get rid of old signs to re-use them though. Should have something for whatever is on the van.

Seriously though.....I've rubbed bigger decals down w/mineral spirits to start to loosen them up&then as you get a corners section to start.....keep ribbon undermeathmas you gently pull...helps if you have helper or two....again never tried w/metallic type....just plastic/vinyl....good luck...hope it all goes well for you
