I don't want to hear about laws or warranty, just wondering if anyone has taken the guts out of their dpf, I have heard of the puck-up guys doing it with no problems.

You will have to find a company who can re-flash your ECM to cancel regens. I did it to my 2008 Ford Superduty, and gained 5 mpg and a ton of power.
Chain Drive Thanks this. -
should have been more specific 2008 Kenworth 475 Cat
-
Don't run in Cali.....
DOT does an inspection and no DPF will get you OOS pronto....
In Cali...it is against the law to modify an exhaust system..... -
It doesn't matter if it's a Cat or a Ford, it's the same procedure. An aftermarket developed reflash will be in order.
But like WCP said, if you get caught, it's a mandatory $10,000.00 federal fine.
I can get away with it on my pick up because the DOT is more interested in the class 8 trucks. When my new 389 arrives, I'm not going to touch it. -
Can the guts be taken and and then replace the DPF?
-
No, there are flow sensors at either end that transmit data back to the ECM. Mess with the flow sensors and your truck won't run at all. That's where the aftermarket flash comes in to turn those sensors off. Besides if you gut it, you would be gutting a $4,000.00+ unit that you will need down the road.
You just have to live with it until you can update to a new SCR engine. -
I knew someone couldn't resist but to play moral police.
-
I was thinking the same thing. LOL
-
Not moral....common sense...
Just like that driver who brags that he filters dyed fuel....He's gonna get caught...
Just keep sticking your hands in the cookie jar....one day you'll get caught and your hands will get slapped....
