What's the best way to remove moisture from an oil bath hub? I had one of my sight glasses break, and while waiting for a replacement water got into the hub. I put new fluid in, which milked up. Replaced, milked up again. Am I actually getting anywhere each time I replace it? I'm in below freezing temperatures with no heated shop.

Bout the only thing you can do is pull the hub off, drain all the oil and wipe it out real good with rags to soak it up. Don't forget to do the same with those bearings. Then wipe down that axle before putting it back together.

Also if you decide to do this do not be tempted to reuse the wheel seal or you will have more issues then moisture in the oil.

You'll never get it 100% clean unless you pull it apart and clean it right out. If you are looking to cut corners, you could totally fill the hub as full as you can get it with new oil, spin the wheel a bit, then drain it all out. You may have to do this a few times, but eventually you will get most of chocolate milk out of there.

would be good idea to take it apart, wash alll with diesel fuel ore kerosine, let it dry, assembly and put new oil
