I wish to remove the tint film from my side windows. It is too dark for my old eyes and it is so dang reflective, that when I look to my right to check my mirror while backing I see an incredible image of me holding the wheel.

Is there an easy way to get the stuff off without damaging glass. I suppose I am looking for a "Hints from Heloise" kinda thing.

Thank you in advance for any input.

Well, there is nothing easy about it. Loosen one corner with a razor blade. Then maintain even pressure as you pull it off. Stay close to the glass to keep from ripping it. Patches of adhesive will stay on the glass. Once you got it off, wet it down with glass cleaner and start scraping gently with the razor blade. With a good blade at an angle you won't scratch the glass. It's a good 20-30 minutes of fun.

Spray some foam type window cleaner on it and let it sit in the sun for a couple of minutes then just peel it off. Thats what the Tint guy told me.

Or call a tint shop and ask how they do it.

I have done it in the past (plus seen tint shops do it)......

The only way to do it is by the above posted way....

Razor blade start at a corner.... Start peeling close to window and go very slow to avoid it from ripping... Then take glass cleaner and the razor blade to get the residue off the window (the glue that is was on the back of the tint).... It will take a little bit to get it off but the trick is slow and easy to make less work for yourself.. Cause if you keep ripping it as it comes off it will just be more of a pain in the ### ......

It's not fun but you gotta do what you gotta do..

The easiest way to remove tint is to go to walmart and buy a $20 steamer that they use to take wrinkles out of clothes. The steam will remove the tint. You can google how to remove tint for more info.

There's nothing that will get the glass clean other than a razor blade. I was taught down in FL from a guy that owned a tint shop. I probably done 30 vehicles myself over the years.

You can heat it up, but it's a wasted step. Glue will still remain on the glass. You still have to blade the whole glass.

Even when I was in the construction industry, the people that detail the houses before move in remove all the stickers with a razor blade and then they clean the glass.

Prior to applying tint, you clean the glass thoroughly and then clean it one more time with a razor blade to remove any lint.

The razor blade is your friend in the tint industry.

    Here's from tintdude.com
He goes in detail about how not to tear up defroster lines on the back window.

But notice on the bottom, he tells about side windows. There's alot of good info on the internet. But alot of info is someones personal experience and not neccessarily real experience.
    This guy knows his stuff.

Alcohol will remove the glue faster than a razor. And if you use everclear you can apply it to yourself and make the job fun.
