hi everyone this is my first post, im a 22 year old male, ive only got 10 months of experience, i was laid off from conway freight in December ive been looking for work ever since, i worked for schneider for six months, and quit due to the fact that they lost the gm account to yrc and wanted me to go otr in a day cab and pay my own motels, i then had a non driving job to get by until hired by conway freight in which i worked for 4 months before becoming part of their mass layoff. Ive tried all the big companies that hire grads but none are hiring out of reno. Are their any experienced Reno Drivers that can give me any advice im afraid i may lose my apartment soon, im willing to do just about anything to find any company. (sorry for the long post)

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I wish you the best of luck...but the deck is stacked against you (location, quit Schneider, not much experience, young)
I don't mean to sound harsh...just being honest with you. -
are there any locations near reno, lets say sacramento or stockton that would hire out of reno,nv?
-
If none of the big companies were interested then I doubt it...just find something to get by for now and keep an eye out for available driving jobs.
Times are hard right now... -
well thanks for the advice, i suppose i could try and get a warehouse job, even those are sparse though, and maybe i could try teaming to get the experience

something you may concider is if you have friends or family that live someplace where companies are hiring right now, and have your address changed to thier address, thats something that is being done more now then ever.
thats just something to think of, maybe go and live with someone and find an otr job, it could also be another way to save some money each month.
good luck. -
Going to be relly tough. You have 3 jobes in the last 10 months. That looks bad. You have no more then 4 months with any one job, That says job hopper. Thats bad. You have less then a year and thats strike 3. At any time it would be tough for you. At this time, you should look for other employment. Not trying to be meen, just truthful.

Have you tried calling Schneider back? Which companies have you applied to?
-
Have you taken the time to look in the Reno Gazette Journal for driving jobs in the classifieds? I did and there are a few that you might qualify for.
Drive safe -
I would call schneider back,,,,they are hiring.....
