Hello, I was just wondering if I rent a tractor from a company like Ryder or Penske to practice driving, do I have to fill out the log book? I won't be using it for hire just to drive around the city to gain experience. I just need more practice before I start working as a driver. Oh and by the way I'm located in Los Angeles California.
Thanks
Renting a 10 speed tractor(no trailer) to practice.

No, you dont need a log book since you are using the tractor for private/non-commercial use. It does however seem like a massive waste of money. A bobtail drives totally different from a tractor pulling a trailer so I don't know what you hope to gain.

You can't rent something you can't legally drive. Cheaper to take a couple lessons at a school. Unless you already have a job lined up I'd rethink going of on your own. It can be extremely hard to get hired when your self taught.

I doubt they will rent to you. Call and ask.

Maybe for a fee, Khan D' Kulia Trucking School, in Los Angeles, will let you practice with their trucks.

Penske, ryder, idea lease, etc will not rent you a tractor with no experience or commercial credit. Go out with trainer shifting isn't that difficult.

I'm amazed you got a CDL and don't know how to drive an unsynchronized transmission.
Diesel Dave Thanks this.
