Renting a big rig for a move

Most want $2500 . a security deposit. For a,day cab. Then what ever they charge per day/ per week/ per month Unless you have a trucking company with insurance coverage.

 

Near impossible.. Most of the truck rental places do not just rent trucks for things like this, you have to have meet a whole list of requirements. I asked the Ryder people this due to a lot of questions about renting trucks for CDL tests.. its just not really feasible nor practical.

 

If you try to rent a class 8 truck from places like Penski or Ryder expect to get turned down. I am not saying its impossible but its close. The problem as I understand it is operating Authority and insurance. I tried to rent a tractor in 2014 for a guy to take his road test in. I have a perfect driving record and a visa card with a $10,000 credit limit and a valid medical card at the time. I still got turned down.

 

I just rented a day cab it cost be $150. For the truck. Filled out the credit application. Talked to my insurance carrier. Put up a $2500. Security deposit.

I did this three days ago. It is possible, check the applications see what you are able to rent. Try Ryder and penski and any others that may have that option for your use and application.

I have to ask because they will ask, what are you going to move?

 

I called ryder 2 years ago and asked them they told me i have to be a trucking company. If you are moving from house to house just rent two of the largest uhaul trucks and assign two drivers to it. Done and done. Problem solved.
