And only one lane open during the rush. -
Not reall concerned with the toll, I'm more worried about getting across the dang bridge before I violate my HOS.

well in the scope of things it seems minor..I backed into a fence..I didnt roll a truck..give it a low overpass shave or kill anyone..but I understand...all numbers.
so another thought...what about going to the so called predetory companies that want drivers to lease..you hear of them all the time..like cr england or ffe..i would be down with it.. even if I came out to about the same as a company driver in the end..to get time in.. is that something possible.
i know i will probebly have to go back to school. so how about predatory driving schools with a job placement clause.. that is how I got started.
i would do the small truck one but I only know of two in this area..and one turned me down cause of this..at least I think and the other advertises wanting two years exp at least..most i have seen on craigslist advertise recent..well wont get recent if i cant drive.
and if i go back to school wont that crap still be on my dac anyhow..how can I get hired from it..
i say predatory cause they seem to be places that go for the green and green students..and not giving a very good deal..
i know it is a shame to have to stoop to that level but got to gravel somehow..
seems like i have a few things going agaisnt me that seem insurmountable but I have heard of people with duis. felonies. abandoments all kinds of bad stuff and they get hired...where are those companies? -
Just remember that DOT regs now require a 10-year employment history. Three won't help you.

Yeah, and with a ###### governed truck to boot. And so few places to sleep.
But they got seafood to eat!

It can be done! They put my trailer, truck, and wife and I on a cargo ship at the LA docks. Trash Compactor for a Hotel in Hawaii. Had a ball!
As far as your problem, Try running team as a second seat. Small companys in S.Texas, Produce haulers don't look as hard. One thing worrys me. Safety. This profession is one of the few where mistakes are not tollarated. You have to be perfect ALL the time. Good luck

so i should probably explain the Smith system incident..I am utmost careful and safety is top priority.. yes in this instance I dropped the ball..
I was at a shipper in Memphis tn. this was a small place by the airport(dont they all seem to be) and it really shouldn't have been receiving trucks of that size.. it was an enclosed gated light industry place it had a line of trucks out the gate and up the road about 20 trucks back.
i guess instead of having a shipping clerk. they had the front guards doing it. this was a place only one truck was let in at a time as one left.. there was that little room at least laterally.. there was of course personal cars parked there too..I am sure every here has encountered these type of places and you cringe at the thought. anyhow..I pulled up finally after about an hour wait.. I had just had a sinus attack that morning and feeling like ####. i gave them my paperwork...and just my luck it wasnt on thier list...I called my dispatch to confirm it and they were suppose to call the shippers.. well like at a mcdonalds drive through..they ask me to pull over to the side and park it while i wait on the answer...like im driving a toyota tercel. so i pull up and prepare to back in beside this place just inside the fence...string of cars on my right side that i was concerend about and i watched.. them...at this point...yes I should have got out but I could see the cars and was pretty clear of them...but i went to deep and back in a bit to thier wrough iron fence. the guards start freaking out.. I get out and give them insurance papers..call dispatch and all the right procedures..not thinking it was the first time something like this happened..maybe it had..but i was also new to driving. i wasnt sure so after I was done at the shipper i was brought back to a terminal.. thank god the one in my home town..i took this remedial class and the first day into it we go out with a trainer in a passenger van and he gives us a hands on as to what to look for...not driving a truck mind you...we were each let behind the wheel of the van and he observed us driving.. did fine.. the next day we were to be evaulated on how we drove with the smith system in mind.. we were to drive an actual truck with trailer...but we was projected to have a huge snow fall that night..sure enough it happened..and we was instead going to take the van out so as to not use a truck while doing it..when my turn came up i asked if we were to simulate it as being a truck...meaning to me distance between vechiles according to speed size etc.. he told me no. so i used the space needed for stoping a van...well what do you think i got failed on...not having the proper distance and being to close...i did everythign else in the course right..
another note as to why i beielve i was fired.. our company had just cut the roles down three hundred drivers to save money cause we didnt have a lot of frienght at the time.. this was januarary of 09...recession time..and I also made a religous comment to someone in the van that i am pretty sure offended the guy. my view so i cant say for sure but my feeling on it..i was let go too that day right after the class...fleet manager called me up not more then twenty minutes after the class was over...told me i was being let go to clean out my truck.. thank god I was in town where i had just got a new apartment. as i had just moved out of my ex girlfriends place..
tough break and that lead to a year and ahlaf of unemployment for me..didnt help but also i was kind of thankful as my mother was dying too and I could spend time with her. it was an all around rough time..
of course all this is just my experience and not what that DAC says.. just unsatisfactory safety record..
i have a friend around here that is looking for some local companies as she knows alot of people in the area. going to try that..but maybe all this is just not worth it...for what if I happen to have a problem again..do i want to go through all this stress trying to get back again.. seems all this to go on the road...which I really really want to do and would be grateful if I can get another chance...but do i want to risk it again... perhaps it is Gods way of saying Stay Put.
strong beieliver in fate....but not going to give up.. -
I'm thinking they could reuse those cargo plane's of the war from long ago, the ones that hauld'ed all the 6 by's and army tank's, ya they can make bunch of money hauling 18 wheelers too hawee
