Hey all. I'm wanting to replace all the door locks on the truck (not ignition though). They're old and the tumblers are loose or dont work at all. My question is, is there a replacement thats cheaper than OEM stuff?
On my chopper, the OEM ignition is $84, but I can get a tractor ignition from Tractor Supply for $12.

spray white lithium grease in the key holes and work them a few times, works like a charm!

I don't sacrifice quality to save a few bucks...... What you got to replace them once every ten years? Buy the OEM stuff.

I was just putting that out there fella. My truck was 22 years old when I bought it and out of 4 locks only the passenger door worked. The others felt like the key would bend or break. I put the little red straw on a can of white lithium grease and shot some in the key holes and sprayed the latch and hinges. Now both doors and side doors swing, latch and lock with ease. A year later and they are all working great.
I guess I'm a penny pinching minimalist, if something isn't broke or on the verge of breaking, I'm just going to service it and carry on. -
White lithium, with little red straw, didnt work. The usable locks work better though. Guess Ill have to buy some locks. Thank you all for the advice.
flatbeb mac Thanks this. -
Sorry buddy, I tried! I had to do it a few times, myself but I guess I just got lucky.

Had to replace a door lock recently. One of those little plates was broken. Ordered to fit my existing keys. It came with two new keys and does fit the existing system. Now I feel the difference between new and old, no slack.
As far as I know, there is a full set of locks available from peterbilt which is cheaper than buying every single lock.
