I have the old one off the truck. Have both the old one and the new one uncaged so I can cut the rod to length. The problem if I cut the new push rod to length I'm lacking about an 1" of threads I need to get the jam nut and clevis on there. WTH?

I'm a little confused, but...
I just try to cut the new one beside the old one uncaged and try to get the same leanth. That's what I have done.rollin coal Thanks this. -
I'm guessing running a die on there to get more threads isn't an option?

I can cut it the same length but there will not be any threads on the rod.
Apparently some companies that make brake chambers thread them in a lot closer.
I didn't know that lucky me I bought one without enough threads. -
Running a die over it is an option as long as the diameter of the unthreaded isn't a few thousandths too big. Can't get my money back once I do that.

You probably have the wrong Brake Chamber that won't work for your Application.
It's best to call the Dealer, give them your VIN and get the right Part Numbered and Make of Brake Chamber for your truck.
I know most people think any Brand Brake Chamber will work, but there are differences in thread length, rod length, etc.
Same thing happened to me, a Shop sold me a Brake Chamber, I uncaged it and cut it, installed it and it was fine. I found out later after driving it for awhile the Slack Adjuster was hitting the Differential Housing.
It was found out that the Rod was too long still, and the Clevis needed more threads on there, which the Rod had none left.
The Shop sold me the wrong 30/30 Brake Chamber.
I had to call Dealer and they gave me the Direct Replacement Part Number for the Brake Chamber that will work correctly for my truck.
Luckily I was able to get my money back on the other one on the pretense that they sold me one that they stated would work and it didn't.Last edited: Oct 10, 2016

A die cutting threads did the trick. Had to ask. It's a standard 3030 short stroke chamber with round ports.
daf105paccar, windsmith and pigeon river trucking Thank this. -
The part with rod rarely needs to be replaced.....I'd just replace the front part...much easier....

I've done the die thing once or twice. In all honesty, its so much quicker to change out just the park brake chamber half and leave the service pot if its good. Usually about 15-20 minutes to do that.
