Replacing my truck batteries, how important are CCA numbers?

    Just to update this thread because I just did the new battery thing and the new starter thing.

    The OP is correct. DELCO REMY has CCA limits for its starters. It’s on their website and on the paper that comes with the starter. Now what was left out > You can go over the recommended CCAs you just need an “Over Current Protection Motor.” Check your starter or if you buy a new one like I did to see if it has an OCP. You can check DELCO’s website. It will list OCP yes or no based on model number.

    So for whatever reason DELCO REMY thinks too many CCAs can be bad WITHOUT an OCP motor. I’m guessing most starters will come with one. It’s another case of a company covering their ##* and an internet thread not giving all the info.
