Get a Broker You know or the Broker you’re dealing with to post it on a board. Power only. Then get a Trailer exchange agreement ( or whatever insurance company says is needed) with them, so they can pull your Trailer. Something like that anyway. I had to do it once. Collision Shop referred Me to a Local Carrier. I also let him Load it back.

Just to let some of you in on a secret, there is a word that is out of use in the corporate world but it is the best way to describe how things sometimes gets done.
The word is networking.
an accompanying phrase that goes along with that is ‘it isn’t what you know but who you know’.
many of us fleet owners talk to each other often, we don’t have the adversarial relationship that a lot of owner/operators have, it isn’t always all about the big bucks or who drives the most miles. We don’t look at this as a race or a competition because we know there is a lot of things needing to be moved and plenty of work for all.
This relationship extends to other parts of the industry from shippers to brokers to dealers.
You get a call from someone asking for something, you share if you can, but when you have a distressed load, sometimes it is best to take a loss to get it to its destination. Many will help out at a low or thin marginal rate but not as a common thing. sometimes all it takes asking for help from another fleet to move a load.
I won’t say anything else about this other than this ... Owner/Operators seem to be islands with no connections to other islands. You can’t anyone else if you are not participating among yourselves, a great example is the political spectrum where it is void of Owner/Operators participation which show me that you all need to get the hell out of the truck and mingle at the lunch counters again.iledbett, The_Great_Corn, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -
You're 100% right though on the networking. Go talk to people. The local work I do now all stems from one of my buddies yelling at a guy we kept seeing on the radio. He wasn't even looking for a business relationship. 2-3 years later it turned into one and a bunch of us friends who owns trucks got pulled into it with him. See a nice truck at the truck wash? Go talk to them. See some guy hauling something that you know absolutely nothing about? Go talk to them. Talk to everyone and everybody you can about their experience with this and that and one day it'll benefit you. You'll have to sift through a lot of nonsense on the way but that's trucking.RubyEagle and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Repowering, by renting from Penske or Ryder can be expensive proposition. You need to have an account with them for this to be any smooth. When I was broken down, the local Penske near Youngstown, OH wanted $10 000 deposit, since I did not have the account. They did not have any sleeper trucks at the moment. I did not like their attitude. The local Ryder wasn't any better and their customer service was on par with the 3 - rd World. I ended up renting a car going back to Chicago and renting a truck from AIM lease.
A broker should be able to arrange for repowering and it is supposed be in his area of service but I did not like the idea of someone else hooking up to my trailers and delivering instead of me to a rather fastidious receiver.The_Great_Corn, Speed_Drums, 86scotty and 1 other person Thank this. -
