I would like all to vote on whether we should keep or remove the "Reputation" (green dots).
Here is a list of Reputation Points & how users can accumulate them, etc.:
Default Reputation (NEW Users): 10 Points
Every 30 Days: Gain 1 Point
Every 20 Posts: Gain 1 Point
Every 100 Reputation Points Gain: Gain 1 Additional Point
How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? 50
How much reputation must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? 20
How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? Administrators are exempt from this limit. 20
How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? Administrators are exempt from this limit. 30
Basically, the better you are thought of (reputation accumulated over time, good post reports, etc.), or if you are in a position of power, your opinion weighs heavier.

I vote yes also. tjgosurf reminded me of why we removed the rep feature on the car club forum I mod for. You reprimand someone for a rules infractions and they get all their little cronies to bad rep you. We also found friends were just good rep'n each other for no reason. Became a friends 'click'.
-
Ok, thanks for those of you who have voted. Now, how about the other 2,200 of you vote? LOL. Anyway, we made sure we set limits on the bad rep deal, we ONLY allow after many posts, your GOOD rep, and after you give 30 other reps as well. So all should be WELL protected from goofies!

Question, I don't see the link to give rep anymore. Does that appear after so many posts? or am I just not seeing it? (I do have to get my eyes checked)
Edit: Never mind. I see it. The little balance scale across the top of the post. :\ -
Well, I wondered what the little green dots were about, and I kind of kept watching for a Pacman figure to come across the screen and chew them up. Actually, I seem to have one green dot, so Pacman must have come by at some point.
In all seriousness, they are kind of immaterial to me. Whether highly though of or not, I would be giving the same info. I have seen rating systems abused elsewhere though, so there has to be some consideration given to how they are managed and monitored. They are to indicate reputation and quality of advice given, not just be a popularity contest. -
Actually I thought the green lights were telling us when the Surveillance camera was in use....So I don't have to keep smiling now so much? -
Wow, CyberGal, who did you pay off for 4 greeny's? LOL. You move up fast! Mack, we felt those points were going to give us much more hassle than good in the long run.

I think a reputation is good. I just hope with all my debates recently, I will be able to maintain a decent rep.
