Would it cut my chances a great deal if I request a non-smoking mentor? Time is money

There are some out there, my second one was but I am not, he wanted to roll with a semi experienced student so we compromised and had a good 3 weeks. Sorry, he is no longer with Swift.

But to answer your question, yeah, it may add some wait time.

Might depend on your home terminal and where available mentors are at when you ready. I went through 2 mentors, with pretty much no delay for either.

I am real easy to get along with and could tolerate most things but being in a cab with cigarettes would mean allergy pills. I hate medications and try to keep them out of my system.

A little second hand smoke, Never killed anybody...... scratch that.
I'd wait on a non smoker, They say Smokers are the minority, Probably not in trucking though.

Smokers are definitely the majority in trucking.

im almost sorry too say, but since im not a smoker , and when i went too train with a smoker, so i could just get on the road and get my own truck, i took whatever trainer they threw at me, but for the most they trained me yes, but not before i cleaned all the ashes off the seat, and thrash out the way, i find smokers too be real messy , as they eat and drop ashes every were and then your eating on the go and they got windows down and the ashes are blowing on your food, o -well never hurt me, im still kicking , but something too consider :biggrin_25515:

I didn't train with Swift. But. I'm a non-smoker and requested a non smoking/light smoker trainer. I was sent out with a light smoker. As soon as he found out I was a non smoker, he put away all the ash trays and never smoked in the truck the the entire time I was on it.

    Round2 Thanks this.

Im a smoker, my truck is spotless and I don't drop food every where and there is never ashes on my food or the floor. I resent that remark, dude.
maybe your mentor was just a pig.?

I had to wait almost six weeks because I requested a nonsmoking mentor.
