First EGR and DEF has nothing to do with the fuel miles , it's all about the pollution, you will get better fuel miles and long lasting engine without this systems , this system will build back pressure and clog your engine with carbon, why u think the regeneration it's required? To release the back pressure , and this will cost your engine to fail , I get 7.5-8mpg, I have diesel heater and apu, my truck is significantly newer

 

I dont drive older truck my mpg is 7.5-8 depends on the weight the truck haul,

 

I dont get advice from people that don't drive east coast or scare from uphill down hills all that, most of you drive on the flat sleep at the truck stops take shower 2 times a day spend time in the driver's lounge room, and act like never haul cheap freight
