Hi there. Have a problem. Family moving out of state but I want to remain domiciled in this state (OR) and told a UPS box wouldn't work because you can't use that address on CDL? Any advice? This would only be for a year or two until I figure out renting an apartment or something.

Your adress is already on your cdl, I would just leave it for a year or so until you get settled. No one will know unless YOU tell them.

You can submit forwarding orders to the post office for at least a couple years. Just have all of your mail forwarded to your new address and keep your OR phone number for a while. Nobody will know the difference.

UPS boxes are a street address with a PMB# for your mailbox. I would give it a go anyway.

    John Doe
    1234 some street PMB#123
    some state, some zip

I think you could get creative and just use #123 or apt#123 instead. It's not a glaring P.O box#

They are more pricey than other mail services but they can sign for your "priority" packages and mail them to wherever you are. for a fee of course.

UPS store isn't really considered a physical address. Take it from someone who knows. It's a place to get mail and that's about it. Just leave your license how it is for employment purposes and have all your mail forwarded to a mailing address. I've done this for a little over 2yrs now but will soon have to obtain an actual address as my license will need renewed.

    Rocknroller4 Thanks this.

Rent a cheap room and use that for an address.
Out of curiosity, I did some searches on Google and Craigslist for cheap rooms to rent and found one for $200.00 a month in Las Vegas. Probably a dump, but could be used as a legal address. Can still live in the truck though. That $200 per month can easily be made up since no state income taxes in Nevada.
You can probably do the same in Oregon and use mail forwarding to somewhere else if needed.

For a business address it's great. I use one, too. Your DL is 'supposed' to have a legal physical address that's not a p.o. box, though. UPS store (I've been told [by an employee at same]) does not qualify as a physical address.
