Keep the same address and forward your mail to a PO box.

Most all the above is good advice. I think however before doing the above try to find a REAL physical address of some kind. The Federal Real ID law has taken effect now. Without that real ID, you can't get into Federal buildings or fly. Go check out what is required by YOUR state to get this new drivers license BEFORE you do anything. As I understand it, this is something you MUST do every time you renew your CDL.

If you have a passport or passport card, you don't need a real id. There are several other acceptable ids too. Around here the local drivers license offices do not issue real id licenses and we would have to go 50+ miles to get one. I ain't flying anyway. Too much b.s.

You are missing the point. The point is not getting into a Federal Building or flying. The point is the States are under a Federal mandate to incorporate the real ID into the driver's licenses. I highly recommend checking out YOUR states requirements on this before you do anything about an address.

Sure are lots of road hobos around. How could it take two years to find an apartment?

Not home enough to justify the price of rent. Cheaper to just rent a room somewhere, anywhere. Even a suite with a hot tub. :)

That's one reason I posted about buying a cheap condo and then rent it to several drivers at the same time. This way, your payment for the condo is covered and everyone gets a legal address. Most drivers probably wouldn't even stay there because it's more convenient to just park at a casino. I posted one condo in Las Vegas that was for sale for $15K and you wouldn't need to make much, if any, profit off the other drivers as long as the fixed monthly expenses are covered. You'd be getting a condo at no expense to you. Probably pay it off in a couple of years at most.
Plenty more like this one available.

When I was driving for a long time I used my sister's address and had my cell phone bill and some other things sent there. I also had one utility in my name so I could show that. Never really had a problem even after the changes made by Congress after 911. I do agree with post #17 though. If you are single and always on the road why rent an apartment? There is always a solution to this problem even in the face of real ID if a person will just look. In fact, one guy I know that is OTR and lives here in Hampton pays a guy a few bucks a month to (rent) his mailbox and does close to what I did.

It's not about what we need or not need. This is what I consider Federal Overreach against the States. For a few years now the Real ID act has been a weight on the states to fall into line.

Those without it after this year will not fly domestic without a passport. Or enter a federal base or building etc. They will be excluded. And it's quite possible that without that star on the license from a state facility designated for it however far you drive, you might find yourself excluded from small things as well. I don't care for it but we are moving into it anyway because we do go into federal installations etc.
