I agree with some other drivers. I know a guy went straight through ATL on I 20 instead of going 285 like the signs state. He got popped. Can't remember exactly how much he paid but it was a lot. I live in ATL but never run where I am not supposed to. I started driving when map reading was a thing so I don't rely 100% on a GPS. I drive intermodal so I was allowed to go downtown because the railyard was there off boulevard (exit 59) off 20.
Yes, you may get away with it simply because cops in Atlanta are lazy and they don't care to do paperwork.
Restricted roads in GA... will I get in trouble?

I'm in North Georgia and the over weight fine is 5 cents a pound (over axle or over gross) Doesn't sound like a lot, but, hauling chicken feed with a gross of 84,000 on a county road in GA, that you're not supposed to be on, which you're allowed 56,000 gross will give you a $1400 ticket. Just numbers from a friend's ticket gross.. my ticket was for over axle. Any sign that says "NO TRUCKS" in GA is a local ordinance and you are still allowed 56000lbs. But, you will still have to pay the ordinance fine and probably the actual over weight fine.
BTW, I'm sure someone will say blah blah blah, you can't blah blah. In GA, you are allowed a 5% variance on poultry, cut rock, and concrete. Which means on a semi proper length, you're allowed 84000 lbs. And on a twin screw straight truck, you're allowed 63000 lbs.JoeyJunk, ChevyCam, 86scotty and 1 other person Thank this. -
I go on the no truck roads everyday. Never been in trouble with the police over it. Half the roads in GA say no trucks.QuietStorm, ChevyCam, JerseyBarrierRacer and 1 other person Thank this.

I think you are asking a question that you know the answer to. The locals in GA will stop you if you are anything more than bobtail on a non truck route. You may skirt by a few times but they will stop and ticket you eventually. If the road is a weight restricted road there will be a fine based on weight, some cities/counties have a max fine amount which is listed on the sign in some instances. If you are just driving on a restricted road for through trucks or trucks over 3 axles the ticket is more of a "off route" fine. YMMV

He get a random stop?
Or did he get pulled for speeding and hit with the inside perimeter violation too?
I’ve never heard of anyone getting a random stop inside 285 without out “reasonable suspicion “ usually speeding .ChevyCam Thanks this. -
Is there a commercial place you could conceivably delivery to inside the no truck zone ?
a set of BoLs for a delivery to that location could be handy. -
I run through downtown on I20 or the connector when there is a shutdown or bad wreck on the perimeter but I am well aware of the fines and consequences. The signs are there for a reason.
-
According to him it was a random but I wasn't there so I don't really know if there was more to it.

What do you mean by designated yellow on Google? Google maps doesn’t show truck routes. The thicker the line indicates how major the road is.
-
I thought the colors on Google showed the average speed of the cars on that road.
Green , yellow, red , and dark red
