Many drivers retire to overseas locations. I did it. You can have a great life if you chose a safe country with insignificant crime.
I chose China with Singapore as 2nd on my list.
Philippines is cheapest, but better study the culture first because that country can be tough if you go in blindly. Great benefits for veteran moving there with a Social Security Office and various veterans clubs.
Two guys from Las Vegas chose Thailand. They live in condos and the amenities are very similar to nice hotels, such as room service, if you want that.
My friend is a retired trucker from Alaska and moved to Vietnam. Bought a condo on the beach and no complaints.
I met two truckers in Beijing from USA. Both very happy living there. -
So you live in a communist country? How's that?
-
I'm back in the states now. I can return anytime I want and get a 3 yr. visa so can stay 3 years and then renew the visa without leaving the country.
Have to be careful with this post because it's not in the political thread. -
You mean the Name callin' mud slingin' forum ?
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Even if they offered me to live at either place for free, I would pass. Kids and grandkids are more important
Not in my lifetime. My kids and grandkids would never forgive me. I have priorities and taught those to my kids, FAMILY…..Chinatown Thanks this. -
I guess! I don't know anything about all that. If you and family are happy, fulfilled and content, then that's wonderful for you.

I visited China for 3 weeks back in 2017 and I was surprised at how 1st world and advanced they actually are. I'm not shilling for the communists but to be honest the people treated us like we were celebrities there and we had a great time. They don't have empty store shelves and there's lots of nice restaurants. Paved roads everywhere about the same as here. Trains ran on time... ...lol, that's a joke. I doubt you would notice much difference between there and here to be honest outside of the food and language. Politics, well that's not something we got into, what's the point? They are them and we are us. Now I wouldn't trade here for there but that's me and at the same time I wouldn't knock them because of their political system. Glad we're not that but they are way far from what North Korean communists are.Chinatown Thanks this.
