Or you could move to Polk County, Florida and work for the best sheriff in the country. Sheriff Grady Judd.

There’s some trucking companies that haul high value loads , and loads for the military , that prefer former or retired LEOs since they can pass the background check and get the security clearance and the former LEOs always have a spotless driving record because they don’t get traffic tickets.

I’m on the other side of the country from you . So I’m not familiar with any trucking companies that do that in Cali .

trucking is far more dangerous than being an LEO though.

Thanks for the reply. I’m curious though, how is trucking far more dangerous than being a cop? Just looking for your insight.

Twenty years myself. Should have left sooner. Took to long to realize the sacrifices I had to make weren’t worth it.

    SRJ and KLF77 Thank this.

Minneapolis is hiring a new chief. They think that will actually fix the police department. They’ve failed before even being hired

I see the same thing with our tribal police. We've come a long way in tougher hiring standards and improved training for the officers but the chief's job almost always goes to an outsider. Nobody in the department wants it.
A citizen's advisory committee and the tribal council decide what's what and I don't know which of the two is more inefficient and short sighted. Plus, they don't get along with each other and have big differences in how they think the department should be run. Confusion and a lack of morale in the troops is the result.
Consequently every couple of years we get a new chief. It's almost always some lieutenant or captain from a department in southern Cal who sees what he thinks is a gravy job to supplement his retirement. It usually takes about a year for him to realize that no matter what he does, somebody want's his head on a pike. He staggers out, disillusioned and bitter and we start the hunt for a new chief. Again.
The elder's council (not the same as the tribal council) testified before the civil grand jury last year when they investigated the department. They were trying to see why we couldn't keep a chief or an assistant chief. I, and the others in the elder's council who testified, didn't give them the answers they wanted. They really didn't like what we told them. They reported that the elder's council should be abolished. They don't want to change ideas so they change people instead.
We just hang on and do the best we can.

First time I used my 45 after I retired was in a Detroit area meat packing place. Some gangbanger wanted me to pay him 50$ or else his associates were going to pry open my trailer. I told him I only had 45 and pointed mine at him. He decided that discretion is the better part of valor and they all ran off. Ten minutes later the Detroit PD was on scene because he said I threatened him with a gun. I agreed that I did. Explained what really happened and showed them my I.d. And badge. I won, they lost. PD agreed that I should probably leave asap and not return for awhile…. and I haven’t.
