Retired from Army end of Mar 2013. During terminal leave went to driving school. Did well. Had several recruiters calling and offering jobs! Went with one located in Little Rock, AR. Started in April with my trainer, began driving on my own in May, in May I had a minor backing incident at the receiver, in July while making a right turn the tire brushed against the gate which pulled the gate out of the ground (the incident was considered minor), in August I attempted my first blind side backing and my cab connected with an empty trailer, and my final one was in October where a company trainer driver backed my trailer and truck into the dock for me. When I pulled out the rear tire rim caught on some debris bending the rim letting air out of the tire. The fix consisted of bending the rim back into place and putting air back into the tire. According to company policy the incidents were suspposed to be removed following safety classes. Found out they weren't removed and the company terminated me due to excessive safely points. Two days later the company put all of this on my DAC (which I didn't even know existed!) Does anyone know of a company that is willing to give me a second chance? Thanks in advance....

1st , Thanks for your career of service. Now to the hard part. You are employable, but with 3 accidents , albeit minor ones , you'll be hard pressed to find a really good job. You may be asked to do some re-training on your own dime by some companies or go through a period of time with a trainer at one of the mega/starter carriers. Those were rookie mistakes and we've all made them, but 3 in a short time period will turn most insurance underwriters off. Hopefully Chinatown will chime in with some leads for you! Good Luck

Thank you for such a quick response. My main issue is finding a company that is willing to give me a second chance.

Post up your location so those that have a lead will know where you are...some companies only hire from certain areas.

You really need a solid year under your belt,
Just keep trying,I had 2 false start when I got into the industry
and I'm still here.People gave me a break.
    Theres always hope.
But it's critical that you pay more attention and stop contacting solid objects of any kind whatsoever.
You're doing the same thing I did at first.

    Keep us posted

Mev, I am really trying. It is good to know I am not alone in my backing incidents!!! I was only allowed to backup a couple times in an empty truckstop parking lot during my training. The rest of my backing is self taught on a spread axle trailer (flatbed). Not making excuses, just stating a fact. I do have over 50,000 miles under my belt.

Sammy thank you very much for your service. Now for the bad part, you have a lot of accidents on your dac in the short time driving which is a huge red flag with many if not most carriers .Veterans with 20 yrs exp don't have that many. Also this trainer that backed in for you,was he with your company or a different company?DO NOT let anyone from another company drive your trk not even a foot. That is an instant termination if any other drivers from your company seen that and turned you in.Considering how many accidents, incidents whatever you wanna call it,you may have trouble finding work for awhile. All I can say is keep looking and hope for the best.

I think maybe you should get retrained that may help you find a job faster. Also if you didn't get much backing then you should have told your trainer or company.Backing is very crucial to your job.

Pattyj, the driver trainer was with my company and he was willing to take the hit for the incident.
