Just from all my looking into trucking. I know there is a ton of trucking going on in your part of the country. Especially South Carolina.
There is a guy on youtube. Red Viking Trucker. He's in your area of the country. Might look into him? He is definitely planning on his own trucking company one day. A few years out as of yet. Has done a video with at least one 'retired' person with no experience, who got a job with a company that demand two years experience. You're retired military. They like that.
Definitely look around a whole bunch. Apply with companies asking for experience. You very well might be surprised. The industry has done well with retired people. Retired is a plus in this career. They also like that we're much more level headed. We're not going to react to a little gnat of a problem like a crack head.
Schneider got some idiot running things who is implementing micromanaging of everything. It's hurting Schneider.

Good advice man. Always worried about making that terrible rookie decision....in the Navy, they tell you a Hull Technician is the supreme welder, under water and everything. Then you spend 6 years elbow deep in compressed, liquefied excrement.....if only someone had warned you, eh?

    Dan.S and Gunner75 Thank this.

Well that sucks, if you lived within 100 miles in fairly certain you could get hired on with my company, we have a yard in Winchester that has a lot of oversize tanks that come from there, and we take students, and we prioritize veterans for new hires

I was a striker/crossrater, so I never had a speciality since I never went to A school. I made third class off the gm3 test, wasnt hard seeing as it was 100% promotion. Mt first time of taking the gm2 test I was the cut off guy for the navy. Everyone ano c15 me was selected, me and everyone below was not. I missed selection by .6 points. That was before I had gotten my navy marine corp achievement medal, that wouldve give me another 2 points to put towards my advancement. The second time I took the gm2 test, the selection results came out on the day I separated, I was selected for advancement, again all without going top a tech school, or taking tad assignment for training on vls or gun mounts. I researched everything from my gm manual or technical guides on my ship.

We had "striker boards" at the time. Simply put, a Seaman could do the courses & practical factors for E-4 then the CO made him a striker which let him wear the emblem over his seaman stripes. He was locked in then for that rating just as if he attended A-School.

of the four you mentioned Mcelroy & TMC are best. Also check out Maverick. They offer top notch flatbed training and just increased pay by .05 cpm for everyone. Thank you for your service!

Pretty much the same when I struck over, you have to go through with a specific amount of ojt to be completed by 3 weeks before the third class test, once you take the test, of you're selected you go through the normal frocking process.
