Hello, I own a Cobra 29LX. It has a mild peak and tune now.
I was thinking of having a RFX-75 add on power kit added to my radio.
(To those who don't know, it bumps the peak power of the radio up to around 75-80w.)
As of now, I have not had this done to my radio...

I drive a company truck, with cb jacks on the dash.
I was wondering-- will this radio work on the cb jacks without blowing the 10a fuse?
    Thanks in advance ...

They are not meant to be used for a radio with an amp.

    I'm in a company truck.
I won't be running an amplifier at all. Just the radio alone.
The rfx kit is an add on kit on the radio itself.

Yes it will work. But go through the setup and make sure everything is tight first.

It's gonna draw 10-13 amps with the RFX on board, so yeah you might blow a fuse.

Binding posts in these trucks are cheap chinese made things, they have a rating about 10 amps at the most, you can melt them with 15 - I have.

Sure it works! For at least a little while.
The idea behind the extra power is to be heard over longer distance, if you key up too long its self defeating and your fuse melts... I like big radios, but hate big/long talkers. You have perfect setup! (You talk too long you burn it up and I don't have to listen, you talk short and everyone hears simple NB rollin @ ## Mile mark.) :biggrin_25525:

I have my radio with a rfx-75 hooked up to them.
I run a 5watt fuse replace it about once a week!
Until I can run some bigger wires and better plugs
To let it sing. as long as I keep my messages short it's fine!

I ran 8 gauge wire from the battery to the posts in my last pete then ran my Connex 4600 turbo off the posts and never melted them.

    Why not try 7amp fuse?
