Hey have any of you guys had any experience with a Powerband RFX75 linear that you install on the back of your radio and it adds like 60-70watts? I'm thinking about putting one on the back of my Galaxy 33hml instead of running a old Comet 200 I have laying around, whats you guy's thoughts and opinions on this idea? Maybe you guys have a better idea, I just want something to swing around 80-100watts and really don't want to run an external linear with all the extra wires and headaches. I also don't want to spend $450 on a Galaxy 98 either but it would be nice.

They work the best on Cobra radios. That and it does not increase your carrier like a linear does.
So in a cobra, you will still be keying a low dead key but once you talk into the mic then your peak power will increase to around 100 ish watts.
Good setup to get over the locals but I don't think it will help distance much, not like a linear does anyway. -
Ya I just was thinkin it was a good deal brand new at $99 installed.

get that comet 200 matched to your 33 and you will like it a lot better than the rfx75. i personally prefer a separate linear, but thats just me. you have more versatility with the comet, hi/lo, receive and you can turn it off and just use the radios power. just my .02

Ya after thinking more on this I guess I'll just run the Comet. Do any of you know if you can have a linear peaked and tuned so to speak like you can a radio? Also have any of you had or know of anyone who has had experience with Comet Amp's good or bad? Thanks for all the replies guys and be safe.

Peak and tune
Well I don't see why not however I would leave it alone ... -
I sure you could find some immoral tech to "peak and tune" your amp (fleece you of your $$$)
