Hey guys! So I'm having issues with my 04 Columbia. I had my suspension air valve replaced a few months back, and ever since my truck has been riding rough. I notice that my airbags are fully inflated and hard compared to other similar trucks I have seen. I feel pretty much every small pothole or bump on the road. I did some research and Freightliner specs say ride height should be 2 7/8in from top axle stop to bottom U-bolt pad. I am not sure if suspension height was adjusted when part was changed but I have measure distance between U-bolt and Axle stop and it is giving me a 5in gap. And my fifth wheel from top to ground is reading at 47in. Want to know what's the height that you guys are riding on before I brake something. One shop I stoped by to ask told me I was at correct suspension height. But I want to get some opinions before I mess with it, thanks in advance!

The ride height for your VIN # is set from the factory according to the specs on your particular truck, not another truck that looks similar to yours.

You need to call or go to the Freightliner Dealer and ask them what the correct height is for your truck and where to measure from.

Incorrect ride height can cause suspension and drive line damage.

The ride height is set by the length of the leveling rod, some are adjustable, some are preset to a certain length.

Sometimes when you change a particular part, the original vendor who made your part is no longer making the part for your truck and another vendor is producing the replacement part with a different style valve and leveling rod that doesn't match up to the original leveling valve.

In that case all the ride height measurements need to be checked and reset correctly to factory specs according to your VIN #.

Thanks! I will go to dealer and have them adjust it to correct height. Better safe than sorry!
