That's why they were the standard for log and heavy construction. Heavy is right, those axles walk 6" in a tight turn.

Yeah didn't even think about turning radius. Might even try to bump up the gear ratio at the same time. I think I can get away with taking out the 3 bottom leafs. I think the GVWR of this rig is 58k or something.

That's more than you should need for hauling RV's. I'd suggest an air ride single. You'll save money in tolls that way as well.

Ahhhhh. Yes thankyou Mack. This is why I sought help on the forum. Another great point.

So I drove the fire truck this weekend. Yep, has the turning radius of cargo ship. Will definitely be changing to single axle. Might even move the axle forward too.

Gimmie that thing, I'll show you turning after loading it with several thousand pounds of wadder. (Joisey, - water) /teasing. -
...Or do you need a sleeper? -
I bought this firetruck that was fully restored in 2004 for $10k. Down to the guages and wiring harness. I can build a sleeper in it. This truck will probably last double the miles, tires will last longer, brakes....everything. And I can do better backhauls. Yeah will need some elbow grease, but that's fine by me
